Empowerment of Women

Empowerment of Women

Historically, women have not had the kind of opportunities afforded to men in certain parts of the globe, which has resulted in severe poverty. Their lack of education and training in any trade or craft forced them to rely completely on their spouse, parents or siblings. There is no denying that things are much better today, but in certain countries, much remains the same. This was a reality recognised by Islamic Help, and it is the reason we took up projects specifically designed to address the issue.

Islamic Help has always been at the forefront of providing relief aid to remote and desolate regions of the world.

Providing locals with the necessary training and skills to get back on their feet is a big part of our relief aid campaign, especially when the opportunity presents itself.

Our programmes demonstrate that by taking advantage of the local habitat and surrounding environment, women can earn an honest living and provide for their families.

Bee Keeping

The Bee Keeping project is one such programme adopted by Islamic Help. We created a system in which women could learn the skills of beekeeping and then use them to become self-reliant.

The Bee Keeping project provided women with wooden hives to produce honey. A normal sized beehive has the capacity to produce over 50 litres of honey every year, which translates to an annual income in excess of £300; a paltry sum in the West, but a huge boost to income in other parts of the world.

The empowerment of women, achieved by giving them equal opportunities to work, learn and better themselves, will translate to greater economic prosperity for a country. Simply put, the empowerment of women is critical to the reduction of poverty across the world. The survival of every country depends on the working proficiency of its workforce, which includes both men and women.

Join Islamic Help as we undertake similar assignments in different parts of the world.
