Today, there are millions of people in the UK and across the world that are without shelter having been displaced from their homeland. Families that once led a comfortable and happy life are now suffering greatly and trying to survive a difficult, refugee life – struggling to even make ends meet.
With World Homeless Day just passed in October, and the winter months looming, now is the time to act. Our Winter Appeal has been put together for this very reason, allowing us to join forces and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves at one of the hardest times of the year.
In such extreme weather conditions, life without shelter, food, water or sanitation can feel so much worse. Many people are forced to live a life of abject poverty and grief, along with their children too – and this isn’t fair at any time of year.
So, this winter, let’s gather as a community and attempt to raise funds for those around us in the UK and beyond and help spread a little warmth during the hardest months of the year.
How You Can Get Involved
There are so many ways in which you can help; by setting up local fundraisers, participating in sponsored activities and events, donating towards emergency relief campaigns, donating warm clothing and food for those who really need it. Even contributing something as simple yet valuable as your time can help us raise awareness of our various winter appeals and the people we want to aid.
A vast proportion of the homeless population in the UK is made up of refugees and displaced families from around the world who have escaped conflict in their home countries. That being said, there are also a lot of us from closer to home who are also suffering, day in, day out.
Each and every one of these people deserves our help and support; it is our responsibility as a community to help make a difference to those in need as and when they need it.
Why We Launched the Islamic Help Winter Appeal
Here, at Islamic Help, we have a fundamental goal to try and make a difference to the world and to encourage simple acts of humanity and kindness in society. You, too, can help us to encourage those around you to join in by raising awareness of our winter appeal.
Together we can help to reduce the number of people suffering from the bitter cold season alone this year by providing the crucial essentials they need to help them through.
