Umrah for Orphans

Umrah for Orphans

Umrah for Orphans - 2019

Make a dream come true for a Palestinian orphan and help send them on this blessed pilgrimage.

Since its launch, Umrah for Orphans have helped 2,200 of the most vulnerable and needy in the Palestinian community, including orphans, young girls and disabled youngsters, complete a life-changing journey.

"I never thought this journey would be possible. Now I think anything is possible." - Ahmed, aged 14

Sponsor a Palestinian Orphan’s Umrah Today

Give an orphan the chance to make a life-changing journey with the following donations:

£600, or 10 monthly donations of £60

£1,200, or 10 monthly payments of £120 (this offers an orphan and also a widow to partake in Umrah)

An Overview of the Programme

Umrah for Orphans is a pioneering aspect of our orphans and childcare programmes which, with the support of our donors, provide support and care for thousands of orphans and vulnerable youngsters.

As well as meeting children’s daily material needs – food, water, education, medical care and welfare – we also cater for their psycho-social development to help with their emotional, psychological and spiritual needs.

As part of that approach, we take hundreds of Palestinian orphans on Umrah, the blessed journey to Makkah and Madinah shareef.

In 2019, the generosity of our supporters allowed us to take 350 Palestinian orphans from Jordan and 100 from Al Quds to the Holy Lands.

Who Do We Take?

The annual pilgrimage has included Palestinian orphans from Al Quds (Jerusalem), as well as orphan girls and widowed mothers. Each Umrah has taken place during the youngsters’ school holidays and on each occasion they have been accompanied by Islamic Help staff from Jordan and the UK, plus selected volunteers.

These blessed journeys were the realisation of a dream for the orphans, their guardians and remaining parents. Already struggling against adversity, these Palestinian families could never have imagined their offspring and wards making such a journey to the heart of Islam.

Please help us make this dream come true for even more Palestinian orphans. Sponsor a Palestinian orphan for Umrah for Orphans.

PLEASE NOTE: Your sponsorship payment/s must be completed in full before a child can go to perform Umrah on your behalf. As the Umrah for Orphans trip is normally organised for January, donations must be complete by the end of December for a child to go the following month.

If, for example, the donation is completed at the end of January, the child will perform Umrah on your behalf at the next trip organised.

Background

Islamic Help looks after more than 800 orphans in the Middle East as part our orphan sponsorship programme. That number is growing daily.

As well as providing food, water, education, medical care and welfare for their daily needs, we have launched a very special programme – sending Palestinian orphans on a blessed journey to Mecca to perform Umrah.

In early 2015, we took our first party of Palestinian orphans from Jordan to Mecca. It was the first time they had travelled to another country.

The journey was an experience of emotion and tears, with the youngsters describing a strengthening and renewal of faith, and excitement and awe as they entered Haram Shareef and performed Tawaf around the Ka’aba.

The group, accompanied by Islamic Help staff from the UK, also went to Medina Shareef to pray in Masjidun Nabi, the mosque of our blessed Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

These blessed journeys, in 2015 and 2016, were the realisation of a dream for their guardians and remaining parents. Already struggling against adversity, they could never have imagined their offspring and wards making such a journey to the heart of Islam.
