When the weather is cold and the nights are long and dark, all you want to do is stay inside, wrapped up warm against the season. We prepare ourselves for the next few months and the winter ahead, turning up our heating and cracking out the warm clothes and heated blankets ready for the inevitable cold snap.
But while you dig out your trusty winter boots and stock up on plenty of warming soup and copious amounts of tea, spare a thought for the many people around the world who are dreading the sharp bite of winter.
Lots of people across the world, here in the UK as well as in developing countries, fear the annual onslaught of winter weather. In our own country, the elderly and homeless are particularly vulnerable as they are so much more susceptible to the cold. Bitterly cold weather can spell disaster for these people, which is why it is vital that they are prepared to be able to deal with the season. From providing shelter and food packages to supporting isolated, lonely people throughout the winter months, Islamic Help does all that we can to deliver assistance to those in need through our winter appeal.
Aid is especially important for those occasions when disaster strikes. Emergencies and disasters, both environmental and man-made, are made all the worse by harsh winter weather conditions. Adverse weather can also hamper relief efforts, preventing vital supplies, aid, and emergency workers and volunteers from reaching affected areas. Timing is absolutely essential when it comes to disaster relief, as people are left vulnerable and isolated without even the most basic supplies.
At Islamic Help, one of our key objectives is to respond as quickly as possible to disasters, providing emergency relief in the fastest possible time. When disaster strikes, we utilise resources on the ground to provide emergency food, water and medical supplies to affected people. To date, with your support, we have been able to provide essential emergency aid to countless people all over the world whose lives have been turned upside down by disasters.
However, you never know when disaster will strike, and it is imperative to have the necessary supplies and funding available so the relief effort can begin as soon as possible. By donating to the Islamic Help emergency fund this winter, you will be helping to provide support and assistance to vulnerable people affected by disasters all over the world. This winter, join our winter appeal and do your bit to help us provide that all-important emergency aid and disaster relief.
