Yemen Crisis Appeal

Since its unification in 1990, Yemen has been plagued by conflict, unrest and a poor economy that has put a huge strain on the country. Over the past few years, the combination of these issues has caused the country’s problems to escalate even further, causing ongoing concern for the residents of Yemen.

The situation in Yemen is dire, with the UN estimating that over three-quarters of its 28-million population lacks access to safe drinking water and sanitation systems, in addition to almost half the population lacking access to essential food and medicine.

Donate today to our Yemen Crisis Appeal and help us support these innocent civilians.

The Crisis

Sadly, conflict is not new to Yemen. Over the last decade, war has ravaged the country. Innocent families are being split up, homes and communities destroyed, and many people are struggling to survive without even the most basic necessities.

In April 2018, the United Nations Secretary-General announced that the situation in Yemen had become the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, highlighting some unbelievable statistics. Eight million Yemenis are on the brink of starvation, exacerbated by the worst cholera outbreak in history, with 1.2 million citizens suspected to be suffering from the disease and an additional 10,000 new cases being discovered each week.

The statistics only get worse for the most vulnerable members of society – the children. It’s estimated that 80% of Yemeni children under the age of 18 are facing direct threats to their health and survival, with a third of those under 5 years of age experiencing severe malnutrition.

The situation has been worsened by the limited food and medical aid that can enter the country as a result of the Al-Hudaydah blockade. Islamic Help’s team in Yemen has been doing its best to supply emergency assistance in the form of medical aid, food and clean water, with a focus on helping orphaned and disabled children. However, we need your help to continue our vital work.

What We’re Doing

Our Yemen Crisis Appeal team is spending each day working with local authorities in the most affected communities, giving life-saving support to the most vulnerable citizens. Over the time that we have been supporting Yemen, we have delivered over £1.5 million worth of humanitarian aid in the form of food packages, clean water, survival and emergency baby kits, as well as operating medical camps to help those most in need.

Our Yemen Charity Appeal is focused on supplying the Yemeni people with the essentials they need for daily life - food, water and medical care - to help them get through the struggles and fear that they are experiencing every day.

What You Can Do

You have the power to make a real impact and provide these people with life-changing support that will save lives. From new-borns to the elderly, mortality rates in Yemen are some of the highest in the world and it’s our mission to safeguard as many innocent citizens as possible. Help us achieve our goal by donating to the people of Yemen in their greatest hour of need.

Islamic Help is dedicated to providing emergency support for under-equipped hospitals, struggling families and vulnerable children who have suffered due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen. You can make a difference - donate today.
