Day 5 of the Mission Possible volunteers’ deployment to Tanzania meant empowerment for beneficiaries in the form of livelihood projects, as recounted by Faizal Karbani, Naveed Akhtar and Amana Rehman.
“Today, we spent the first half of the morning assembling the sewing machines that were going tothe selected beneficiaries. The second half of the morning was spent loading 2 vehicles with supplies for the 2 shops and a pharmacy that were selected for support by Islamic Help.
The volunteer group was split into 2 to deliver these items. I was with a group that delivered shop supplies to a family. This was a wonderful experience. The shop owner was a relatively old man who
lived with his son. This help would bolster his income and give him the kickstart needed to get into a positive cycle, Insha'Allah, of growing the business.
The duas which we got from this were truly wonderful, Insha'Allah.
In the afternoon, all the beneficiaries receiving the sewing machines and the goats came to the school and they were handed their awards accordingly. Again, this was a very happy occasion. After this we planted plants and trees for the landscaping of the school grounds, helped get the water tank on the newly-created base and helped with skimming the toilet walls.
All in all, a very enjoyable and blessed day, Alhamdulillah.”

“We began the day by assembling sewing machines for the selected beneficiaries. This initiative aims to empower individuals with skills that can lead to greater financial independence. Watching the machines come together was exciting, knowing the opportunities they would create.
Next, we visited two local tuck shops we had chosen to support. We delivered much-needed stock, ensuring these small businesses could thrive and serve the community better. Supporting local entrepreneurs is vital for economic growth and sustainability.
After that, we distributed goats to the beneficiaries. This initiative is designed to provide them with a source of income and food security. The excitement and gratitude on their faces made our efforts all the more rewarding, Alhamdulillah.
We then turned our attention to a significant project: installing a water tank. Completing this project is crucial for providing the community with reliable access to clean water, which is essential for health and daily living.
To wrap up the day, we began skimming the walls of the toilets at the primary school.”
Naveed Akhtar
“Today we began by assembling the sewing machine stands. We then loaded up the cars with food and drinks and dropped these off to the two shops chosen for replenishment.
One included a woman who recently lost everything in a fire and did not know that we would be replenishing the shop. Her surprise and excitement were extremely heart-warming. After this, we dropped off some bed linen to the doctor’s surgery and made them aware that we aim to fundraise for some of the other things they felt they needed.
In the afternoon, we handed out the sewing machines and goats to the chosen families. We then planted trees and placed the rain water harvesting system on the built platform. Following this we continued the plastering and decorating of the toilets.”
