Kindness as a Way of Life

21st November, 2017

How often do you spare a thought for the people around you? Here at Islamic Help, we are constantly working to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves through ongoing campaigns such as our winter appeal. However, although we are immersed in the work that we do and continually committed to helping others, we know that it isn’t always that easy for others.

kindnessLuckily, there are plenty of ways that you can get involved. Of course, volunteering and donating are two of the main ways in which you can show your support, but there are also many smaller ways that you can help to improve people’s quality of life and brighten another’s day. After all, you never know when you might need someone to help make your day that little bit better!

A Simple Yet Effective Change

Kindness, compassion and generosity are free of charge – as the age old saying goes, it costs nothing to be nice to someone. It is important to try and take this saying to heart and use it as a mantra for your everyday life. Sometimes, even the smallest of actions can end up having the biggest impact, so however you help, this can actually wind up creating a much wider ripple effect.

Fortunately, there are many different ways in which you can show your kindness, appreciation and empathy for the people you share the world with, both close to home in your local community and further across the world. While grand gestures of compassion like spectacular fundraising initiatives and volunteering schemes will understandably have a big impact, adding up all the smaller touches of kindness can also have a much bigger impact than you might initially think.

How Can You Help?

From spending an hour chatting with a lonely elderly person in your neighbourhood to buying a hot drink and a woolly hat for a homeless person this winter, appeal to the most generous side of your personality and commit to helping those who are most in need. Once you begin to start incorporating kind acts and positive deeds into your daily routine, it won’t be long before it becomes second nature and you won’t even have to stop and think before doing something nice for someone else. While you might not be at that stage quite yet, with a little attention, kindness will soon be just another way of life for you.

At this time of year, vulnerable people in need across the world require our help more than ever. Join our winter appeal and assist us with our mission to spread a little kindness this season.
