National 3 Peaks Challenge for Central African Republic
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page :)
I've decided to take part in the three mountain peaks challenge, where I'll be climbing the UK's "big three" (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon) within 24 hours in just a few weeks time (total climbing distance of 42km). I've taken up this challenge to help raise funds to support and change the lives of refugees of the Central African Republic.
Those closest to me know the scale of this challenge; and without doubt this is the most difficult thing I have ever done, but crucially it cannot begin to come close to what the people of the Central African Republic are going through, and I cannot just sit by and watch; doing nothing is just not an option.
The Central African Republic (CAR) is in the grips of a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions, with more than 2 million people in need of humanitarian aid. The United Nations estimates that about 440,000 have been internally displaced and nearly 430,000 people have fled to neighbouring countries.
Your generous donations will go towards the construction of a new camp for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Yelwa, in the Central African Republic. It will feature 200 family shelters, a health centre, communal kitchen, school for about 750 children, four water wells and 41 toilets and showers.
Further details about the project can be found in the link below:
In our daily lives we take the most basic necessities for granted, yet there are people all around the world who can't fulfil such needs. A small contribution on your part would make a big difference to these people's lives.
Thanks again for taking the time out to read my page. I hope we can all get together and donate generously towards this great cause.
I'd like to finish with a saying of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him):
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”
Please donate generously.
May you be rewarded for your kindness.
