Humairaa's Sponsor Page Salaam and greetings to you all,
My name is Humairaa :) and I have decided to raise money for a humanitarian crisis occurring in this world by attending a 5km in Bedford Park on Saturday 25th April.
I know what you're thinking... 'Another crisis I have to give money to. What is it this time, Syria? Palestine? Iraq? Sudan?'
In fact, it's probably a crisis you didn't even know was happening.
Does Central African Republic ring any bells?
The Central African Republic (CAR) has a history of military coups and infighting. Ethnic and religious conflict has escalated over the years, plunging the nation of 4.6 million into a seemingly perpetual crisis which has had a huge impact on the stability of the government and its ability to provide essential services to the population.
The current humanitarian emergency in the Central African Republic has left 2 million people in desperate need of humanitarian aid. The United Nations estimates that about 440,000 have been internally displaced and nearly 430,000 people have fled to neighbouring countries. Food and clean water are in scarce supply in many of the affected areas. Hospitals and clinics have been vandalised and looted and health care provision remains a priority for relief agencies working in the area.
Normally, I'm a person that just gives money as I'm not very good at raising money and just generally 'being out there'. So I'll need your help. Let's together put some money together and help these people in crisis.
Below are the benefits of giving charity:
Allah says in the Quran:
"If you give charity in public, it is worthwhile (for it will persuade others), but if you hide and deliver it to the poor in secret that is (far) better for you. And Allah will remove from you some of your sins (due to this charity). And Allah is Aware of all that you do. (Al-Baqarah 2:271)
The prophet said:
"The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
