Umrah For Orphans 2018

Umrah For Orphans 2018

2018 Umrah for Orphans

Please note, any orphans sponsored for Umrah from 1st November 2018 onwards will go on Umrah with Islamic Help in 2020 as the 2019 spaces have all been filled.

In January 2018 we carried out a very special Umrah for Orphans – Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to Makkah, when we took, for the first time, Palestinian orphans from Jerusalem on Umrah.

The party of 96 orphans from Al Quds joined with 250 Palestinian orphans from Jordan in the Holy Lands for the blessed pilgrimage. Watch the video (below).

It was the latest stage in our Umrah for Orphans programme which started in 2015 and has since seen more than 1,000 Palestinian orphans and disabled children experiencing the journey of their young lives.

Al-Quds is the Arabic name for the city of Jerusalem and it has special significance in the hearts of Muslims everywhere.

The Al Aqsa Masjid was the first Qibla (the direction faced for prayers) for Muslims and it was from there that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) ascended to the heavens.

Orphans also have a special place in Islam.

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) was an orphan and he placed special emphasis on caring for orphans. He said “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate.”  (Hadith

Each Umrah for Orphans journey is part of the psycho-social support we provide in our global orphans sponsorship programme. The pilgrimages have proved to be an exhilarating experiencing for the children as they have witnessed the majesty of Haram Shareef, performed Tawaf around the Ka’aba and travelled to Madinah to pray in Masjidun Nabi, the mosque of our blessed Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)

Eyad

Eyad (right) was one of the Palestinian orphans to take part in our 2018 Umrah for Orphans.

I felt great during my stay in Al Masjid Al Nabawi. And when I first set foot in the Masjid, I was really honoured.

You see, I pray regularly now. Before I came here, I wouldn’t care much about praying but now, after I learned the importance of praying, I repented.

Allah wants to test us in this life: we need to pray, to fast and to obey Him.”
