Islamic Help’s Response

Since early September, Islamic Help has been active on the ground providing a response to the floods within 3 Union Councils (UC’s) located in Umerkot.

Umerkot is one of the districts within Sindh that along with Badin, Sarghar and Mir Purkhas has been most severely affected by the floods. It is estimated that 23 people have lost their lives - of these 11 are believed to be children. In this area of Sindh the floods have:

Islamic Help has set up a field hospital in the Kolidoro village and in just a few weeks we have provided primary health care to over 5500 people, including, 3600 children under five.  The conditions we have treated have included respiratory infections, skin diseases, diarrhoea and over 300 cases of suspected malaria.

In addition to the field hospital, Islamic Help is assisting in providing the most important of commodities during a humanitarian crisis - safe clean drinking water.  We have been providing over 300,000 litres of water per day to over 50,000 people.  In total we have provided nearly 5.4 million litres of water per day to those people who have been displaced from their homes and villages.

We are continuing to provide support to the people of Umerkot and whilst the floods are receding, the damage that they have left is great and your support and assistance is much needed.  Donate generously today to alleviate the suffering of those caught in the latest catastrophe to hit Pakistan.
